Really loved this one.

It's actually a subject that has always puzzled me. I apologize for going on one of my classic long winded rambles but that Lukaku moment definitely brought me back to the Vini incidenta.

Especially from a player perspective but also just a fan perspective like when the Atléti ultras were doing their antics towards Vini I was so curious how it must feel to be a black Atléti fan in the crowd hearing and seeing what the ultras are doing but them not directing it towards you.

Because somehow "you are one of the good ones" likewise the chants and stuff I'd imagine being someone like Kondogbia or Memphis you must be sitting there thinking wait 🤔 the only thing stopping these fans from viewing you in that same light is a jersey colour? You mentioned it perfectly, if Drogba takes off the Chelsea jersey he loses that shielding of the badge.

So it's literally oh we are gonna support "our black guy(s)" but the rest of them they are no good. Make it make sense. Well I mean I'm not confused as to why they do it just so puzzling from a logic perspective but I suppose in the end these mfs aren't moving with logic.

Will write another comment after listening but before doing so, I always think of it like this: you are cheering for them because they are winning games for and therefore helping the club you support win trophies. If they are of another club, or even perhaps if they play for your club and don't perform well, that racism may manifest itself. However, the monkey chants and slurs etc are symptoms. The illness, for lack of a better term, is the thinking that this person is of different race and therefore inferior to me. A player playing for your club and doing well can temporarily remedy some of those symptoms, but only as long as things are positive on the field. The people who abused the England players who missed pens in the Euro final were probably cheering for them up until that point. It shows that it's always there, just didn't have the chance to be expressed before, because why would they when things are hunky dory?
